Senior Data Engineer (Serbia)

Florence is searching for an amazing Data Engineer with experience in Database Administration (DBA) and Data Operations (DataOps) to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate is someone who has a robust understanding of databases, coupled with an affinity for optimizing data pipelines and ensuring database performance. What You Will Bring to the Team:

• Expertise in Databases: Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and managing both SQL and NoSQL database systems. You understand the nuances of database design, normalization, and denormalization.
• DBA Acumen: Proficiency in database tuning, backup, recovery, and security. A track record of ensuring high availability and performance of databases.
• DataOps Skills: An appreciation for the Agile methodology and its application to data operations. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines in a data context, ensuring quick and reliable data delivery.
• Advanced Data Engineering Techniques: Deep expertise in constructing, deploying, and optimizing large-scale data processing systems. Proficiency with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, ensuring seamless data flow from diverse sources, and adeptness at designing data models that cater to analytical and transactional requirements, thus supporting the organization's broader objectives.
• Collaborative Mindset: A team player attitude, with the ability to collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, architects, applications developers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into robust solutions.

You Will:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL and noSQL databases to ensure performance, security, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement data solutions that drive business growth.
• Establish best practices for database backup and recovery, as well as disaster recovery strategies.
• Monitor database performance, implement modifications and apply tuning techniques for optimum efficiency.
• Facilitate the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) of data solutions, ensuring agile delivery and consistent quality.

An Ideal Candidate Has:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on DBA tasks and DataOps roles.
• Deep knowledge of SQL (Postgres) and familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Great team player and loves to have fun

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Knowledge in noSQL databases (MongoDB)
• Experience with Teraform, Docker and automation
• Certifications in specific database platforms (e.g.MongoDB Certified DBA, Aurora Certification, Snowflake Certified).
• Experience with cloud platforms like Snowflake, AWS
• Exposure to big data technologies
