Responsibilities
- Impact the success of our products by designing flawless UXs and UIs, from conceptualization to delivery.
- Test innovative and intuitive interactions and animations by leveraging cutting-edge prototyping tools.
- Work closely with product managers to propose new features and improve the quality of our mobile and web apps.
- Conduct user research and interviews to ensure our customers are always at the core of our products.
- Create marketing materials for the App Store and Play Store to make our apps stand out from the competition.
- Ensure that the brand standards are met across all materials.
What we offer
- Your work, in the hands of millions. Our apps have been downloaded hundreds of millions of times. We're a global force and your work will be enjoyed by users all over the world.
- Design for people, not clients. Here, there aren’t any clients doing backseat driving–we cater solely to our users. That means you're free to unleash your creativity on the people whose opinions matter most: the app-loving public.
- Top-of-the-market tools. You get the best hardware on the market and all the software you could need. We can't wait to introduce you to our high-tech approach to design and to our cutting-edge workflows.
- Real impact. Sure, the details make the difference. But that doesn’t mean you’ll spend your days styling and restyling the same button. We automate most menial tasks, freeing you up to focus your expertise where it can make the biggest impact.
- No micromanaging. Be the owner of your effort–from day one, you’ll be one of the team and fully trusted to take responsibility for your tasks. You’ll have every incentive to make a real impact.
- People who lift up one another. We hire for talent and leave divas at the door. You'll find a group of truly talented Spooners who are eager to learn and teach their secrets. Reciprocal support and respect is everything–you’re unlikely to ever encounter a more harmonious crew.
- Continuous education. Spooners get unlimited backing for learning investments, including your Italian or English lessons and things like courses, conferences, and books. There’s no permission or approval process–you’re fully trusted to use the company’s resources efficiently.
- Remote working. Spend as much or as little time in our Milan office as you choose. Many Spooners like to change up their environment and get out of the city whenever the mood strikes. Every morning, you’ve got the freedom to decide where today’s office is.
- Flexible schedule. Our regular hours are 9-6 GMT+1, but this isn’t a “clock in, clock out” company. Morning person? Start work while the world’s still sleeping. Night owl? Ramp things up while others are winding down. You’re fully trusted to create the right conditions for your own personal peak productivity. We only ask that you’re available to your teammates a good chunk of the day (six hours or so). That’s why it’s generally best to be based somewhere with a similar time zone–between GMT-2 and GMT+3.
- Unlimited vacations. Take all the time you need to recharge your batteries–no permission process or vacation allowance here. Because a rested, relaxed, and refreshed Spooner is a happy and effective Spooner.
What we look for
- Passion for the subject. Whether sipping your morning coffee or chilling before bed, great design and the latest trends are never far from your mind.
- Precision. You’re super-accurate and pay attention to detail–no matter the size of the task.
- Out-of-the-box design thinking. You don’t just like design, you absolutely live for it. Nothing gets you more fired up than dreaming up awesome and unique UXs and UIs for our products.
- A portfolio to show off. You’ve got a quality portfolio of original work, with at least one example of either mobile or web UX and UI. As long as your work is well-polished and neatly organized, it doesn’t matter in which field you gained most of your experience.
- Some relevant experience. You’ve got at least one mobile or web UX/UI design project under your belt. You know your way around either Figma (preferred), Sketch, or Photoshop. Some experience with Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar software will be evaluated positively.
- Diligence, organization, reliability. You can be entrusted with responsibilities large and small. You’re organized and can handle multiple parallel projects without panicking. When the going gets tough, everyone can count on you.
- Business-orientation. You know how to create with your audience in mind, delivering practical solutions within engineering constraints and leveraging data to optimize your offerings.
- Drive. You’re energetic, hard-working, and persevere through adversity until the job is done–and done impeccably. You’re massively into getting results, and always aim for excellence in what you do.
- Pragmatism. Far from being too academic or obsessive in your perfectionism, you understand that speed is often as important as quality when getting things done in a competitive world.
- Reasoning and depth of learning. You’re structured and creative enough to solve most challenging problems independently, given the necessary knowledge. You learn new concepts and skills rapidly, and love to nerd out and go in-depth.
- Interpersonal skills. You love working with teammates and can build quality relationships with pretty much everybody.
- Humility. You’re eager to help and not at all picky about which tasks you’re asked to take on. You’re open to feedback and truly value the opinions of others.
- Conversational English. You read and write well and can hold a relatively fluent conversation in English, even if the topic is somewhat complex or technical.
- A VPN is required to respond to a vacancy.
