Language Manager

Minimum qualifications:

• Experience in project/program management and partner/stakeholder management. 
• Experience with using data to identify trends, inform business-critical decisions, and tell a story from the data.
• Experience working across cross-functional teams and time-zones.
• Ability to speak and write in Russian and English fluently and idiomatically.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience within creative, localization, journalism, public communications or the online marketing/advertising industry.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity, work independently and be able to chart direction of projects.
• Excellent communication/presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership level.
• Demonstrable translation and linguistic skills.
• Detail-oriented, quality-focused and proactive, with ability to manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Work on the Go-to-Market team with Marketing, Product and PR to enable language experiences for Google’s products and Russian users.
• Engage with local stakeholders to understand priorities, and share updates on language strategy/global localization services.
• Create/evolve Russian language guidelines/strategy, incorporate input from users, stakeholders, and language trends. Share information with local/global teams. 
• Develop an expert level understanding of market/user expectations for language quality and how to use language to achieve market/user needs. Seek language studies/user insights to improve understanding. Engage with Russian tech/localization industry to stay informed about trends. 
• Ensure translation and review vendors deliver high quality translations that align to Google’s standards. Assess vendor metrics to identify issues/trends, use metrics to drive improvements with local vendors. Improve language quality/processes, and drive language/team-level initiatives.
